The Omaha Area Local will be holding the election of officers for the 2018-2021 term of office and delegates to the 2018 NPWU State convention and 2018 APWU National convention.
All officer positions are open for election of members in good standing for at least 6 months.
Written nominations can be submitted during December 2017 - floor nominations will take place at the January 9, 2018 General Membership meeting at the Kenneth Wilson Union Hall, located at 1270 S 13th Street, Omaha, NE 68108. Written nominations should be mailed to the Union Hall address, attention Editor Jim Bilek.

OAL Constitition Election rules:
ARTICLE 10, ELECTIONS: Section 2. Eligibility. Any member in good standing for at least six (6) months will be eligible to be a candidate for office or a convention delegate.
Section 3. Dual Membership Restricted. No person holding membership in any other organization representing postal employees is eligible to hold office in this Local. These same restrictions apply to these persons in regard to representing this local as delegates to conventions.
Section 4. Nominations. An eligible member who desires to be a candidate for office or convention delegate may submit a letter to the Editor stating the office he/she seeks and the convention he/she wishes to attend. These letters will not be received until 0001, December 1, nor later than December 31, 2400 hours.
Section 5. Floor Nominations. Nominations for office(s) and convention(s) will be made from the floor of the January General Membership Meeting. Members in good standing who are nominated by others for election to an office and/or as a Convention delegate will, within three (3) days of nomination, be notified that they have been so nominated. They must provide to the Editor, within ten (10) days, written notice whether they accept the nomination and, if nominated as convention delegates, that they are willing to attend such convention(s), before their names can be placed on a ballot. Self nominations in possession of the Editor on January 1 of the election year and/or written nomination acceptances will be irrevocable, except for reasons which would render such candidates ineligible for elected office.
