It illegal to discriminate against employees or applicants for employment on the basis of race, color, religion, genetic information, national origin, sex, age (40+), or physical or mental disability.
It is also illegal to retaliate against someone for filing an EEO complaint.
Publication 133 provides an overview of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and the EEO complaint process for the Postal Service.
It explains your rights, responsibilities, and remedies under those laws and the EEO complaint process.
Although this booklet contains important information, it does not include all information on discrimination complaint laws or EEO complaint processing regulations.
Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1614 contains the regulations on EEO complaint processing for federal agenices, including the Postal Service.

REDRESS is an alternative dispute resolution process that offers an opportunity for you to request mediation in addition to traditional EEO counseling.
Omaha Area Local members can call 888-336-8777. TTY is 888-325-2914. to request an EEO packet. You are not required to inform the District EEO ADR specialist about the facts of your case or to justify your actions - management is required to provide information and forms when requested.
The Omaha Area Local will assist:
- members with completion of the appeal paperwork
- meeting with management in the REDRESS process [if desired]
- referral to lawyers familiar with EEO complaints against the Postal Service
Any member who believes they are being subject to discrimination should file a complaint.
