President Trump proclaimed December 5, 2018, as a national day of mourning.
Postal employees were granted a day of administrative leave for this national day of mourning.
The ELM and Memorandum of Understanding provide the rules for a National Day of Mourning.
By rule, members must use the administrative leave by the end of the fiscal year (September 30, 2019).
Members will lose the right to take this administrative leave if not used by September 30, 2019.
Administrative leave must be taken at one time.
Administrative leave may, at the employee’s option, be substituted for previously scheduled but not used annual leave.
